I'm pushing them over 3000 without pressure and getting half inch groups. First 5 rounds with 54.5gr of H4831SC yielded 2850fps with plenty of room to go hotter. They shoot consistently inside 1 using my final load. Thought I would give these a try in a 257 Weatherby Mark V that we installed a Lilja barrel on. They shot at 2800fps . Yesterday I shot a whitetail doe at 200 yards standing near the private property line. Trying to find load for 20 inch barrel with suppressor . This is really what Im after flat shooting all the way out to 200 yards . Then we took a good look down the barrel and noticed all the damage to the rifling. In 20+mph winds this bullet did amazing when I did my job. Tried the 146s and got 1.5 -2inch groups, Eric Thornton Iv took whitetail over 500 yds with it. The 35g Hammer Hunter will line up nicely with lead core 35g data, such as Hodgdon. Now I just need to get some 180s for my 300 wsm! Very easy to load for like any Hammer bullet I have used, just seat them .010 off lands start low and work up on powder charge and you will have it. Shot placement was through both front shoulders. Just ordered 200 more of these, and plan on using them next deer season. I'm sure they could be pushed a lot faster but why bother. I don't think its significant out to 500, but if you plan to push the outer edges of effective range (hammers are designed to perform down to 1800 fps) then it is certainly something to consider. I do know that the next time Im in Kalispell Ill be going into their shop. Average muzzle velocity was 2,908 with 40.0gr of Varget out of the 22" barrel with a Rugged Radiant 7.62 mounted. The bullet couldnt have been going much faster than 1800 fps when it hit, but it did exactly what Hammer said it would do. And this was a 3 shot pattern at 100 yards. Best I could ever get was 7/8 ONCE. I can't wait to try these on elk this fall. Precise and durable. Work up your loads slowly. We just returned from South Africa and the performance of these bullets in her rifle was spectacular. Getting tiny groups and about 3100 fps MV from that 20 inch barrel. As a resident of CA, were faced with having to shoot non tox bullets. If the rifle is not liking what is going on we generally switch the powder. There is no drop off in terminal performance from the Shock Hammers. One shot. They absolutely perform in flight like a "match" bullet, but terminal performance on preds is off the charts! It's satisfying not to have to worry about lead contaminating the meat I will be feeding my family. Lungs were basically liquified, hollow point broke into 3 petals; one exited with the shank and two petals got slowed down by shoulder muscle landing just over the opposite side skin.
